Shonisaurus was a genus of large carniverous marine reptiles, belonging to the order Ichthyosauria and the family of Shastasauridae. The genus consists of two species, S. popularis and the larger species called S. sikkanniensis. Shonisaurus thrived during the Late Triassic Period and were among the first Ichthyosaurs, as well as the largest. Their diet probably consisted of fish, squids, and smaller marine reptiles.
