TAPUIASAURUS

Tapuiasaurus macedoi-Life restoration

Tapuiasaurus

("Tapuia lizard") is a new genus of herbivorous sauropod dinosaur. It was a nemegtosaurid titanosaurian. It lived about 120 million years ago (Early Cretaceous) in the Sanfranciscana Basin of Brazil. It was named by Hussam Zaher et al. in 2011. It may have small, armored nodules on its skin. Tapuiasaurus was about 40 feet long when adult, weighed 9 tons, and stood about 16 feet tall. It was probably prey for many predators, like the large allosauroid Megaraptor, and inhabited deserts, marshes, forests, coasts, and mangrove basins.
